Why KNX?

About KNX Building Automation

Building automation systems create a new level of comfort.

KNX is an integrated system based on an open standard, which automatically controls various systems within a building, including heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, shading, and security. Its goals are to enhance energy efficiency, improve comfort and safety, reduce costs, and optimize overall building operational efficiency.

The KNX system is highly scalable and can be used in a wide range of settings, from family homes and apartment buildings to office buildings, hotels, warehouses, industrial halls, shopping centers, stadiums, and airports. It can manage anything from a 30 m² apartment to operations at the Beijing Olympics or London Heathrow Airport.

Our company is fully certified for professional KNX system design and implementation. Our team members have received certifications from KNX training centers in Belgium and Hungary. We are registered and certified partners on knx.org: KNX Partner Directory.

Advantages of KNX Technology

EXTREMELY RELIABLE

KNX is a decentralized system: it has no central unit whose failure could bring the entire automation to a halt. A device failure only affects the specific device (e.g., one lamp), while the rest of the system continues to operate smoothly. In this regard, KNX is unique.

USER-FRIENDLY

It is intuitive and easy to use, requiring no training to operate.

UNPARALLELED, MANUFACTURER-INDEPENDENT DEVICE SELECTION

With over 500 manufacturers (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Panasonic, SONY, Gira, etc.) offering 8000 products, choices range from cost-effective to luxury options. The design variety is extensive as well. The 100% compatibility of devices and support from manufacturers of the open standard ensure continuous availability of system components.

MODULAR AND CUSTOMIZABLE

The system can be expanded at any time, both in hardware and functionality. The functions of the integrated devices can be freely modified later without rewiring, even remotely.

SCALABLE

The system can adapt to varying automation needs, from apartment buildings to large-scale events like the Olympics.

MONITORABLE

Events within the KNX system can be logged and analyzed, making it easy to diagnose building systems such as heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, water treatment, energy production and consumption, access control, and security. Data from multiple, separate KNX-automated buildings can be integrated into a central supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for comprehensive monitoring and analysis.

RELIABLE AND FUTURE-PROOF

KNX has been operating steadily for 30 years and continuously integrates new technologies.

ENERGY EFFICIENT

Integrating the various separate systems within buildings (lighting, shading, mechanical, security, IT, multimedia, etc.) on a common platform can result in significant energy savings across multiple areas. KNX consistently meets the increasingly stringent building energy standards.

EXCELLENT SUPPORT

Thanks to its open standard, device manufacturers prefer integrating KNX technology. With 120,000 trained and certified integrators worldwide, the expertise required for implementation is always available.

STANDARDIZED

KNX is the only open global standard for building automation, recognized by the following international standard certification bodies:

  • CENELEC: EN 50090 – the only European Standard for Home and Building Electronic Systems
  • (HBES) based on KNX
  • CEN: EN 13321-1 – the European Standard for Building Automation based on KNX
  • ISO/IEC: ISO/IEC 14543-3 – the World's only Standard for Home Electronic Systems (HES)
  • based on KNX
  • GB/T: GB/T 20965 – Chinese Standard for Home and Building Control based on KNX
  • US Standard (ANSI/ASHRAE 135)
